  6. Scanners  have  made  the  papers  in  the last couple of years with the
  7. revelation  of  Dianagate  and Camillagate, and all the associated moral
  8. questions.It  now seems safe to assume that whole affair was designed to
  9. undermine both the Royal Family and the scanning hobby in the UK.Neither
  10. of  which  seems  to  have  been achieved.  One thing is certain though,
  11. Scanner users are now labelled perverted eavesdroppers.

  13. Although  it's illegal to listen to certain VHF and UHF frequencies it,s
  14. not illegal to buy a scanner.
  15.  
  16. The  best  shops  to  find  a scanner at a good price is ether Tandys or
  17. Maplins.   Tandy  tend  to stock Realistic, which are good scanners both
  18. the  hand-held  and  homebase  ones.   I  have  an  Icom 7000 which is a
  19. heighened  scanner,  I  also  have  a Realistic pro2006 that I manly use
  20. while  on  my  amiga.  I also have a hand-held scanner that I clip to my
  21. belt and with earphones use at work or in the car.

  23. I  mainly listen to privet phone calls and the police, both of which are
  24. very  interesting.   I should at this point say I have no morals when it
  25. comes  to listening to phone calls and baby monitors,yes that right baby
  26. monitors  people  buy  baby  monitors so they can hear if there child is
  27. awake  or crying when the child is in bed and your in another room.  The
  28. first  unit is a small transmitter placed in the room with the child the
  29. next  unit is a receiver which you keep with you, the receiver will only
  30. pick-up  the  transmission  up to about one hundred yards, But a scanner
  31. can  receive  the transmission up to half a mile.  A lot of these people
  32. don't  switch  the transmitter off at night, so in reality their bugging
  33. their own home.

  35. Most  people  with  mobile  phones know they can be heard by people with
  36. scanners  but  still  read out their name,address and credit card number
  37. when  buying over the phone or paying for a sex call or booking tickets,
  38. so  if  you  own  a mobile phone or a cordless home phone beware someone
  39. might  be  listening who will act on what they've heard.  The police now
  40. class a scanner as a burglars tool, which if used right is.

  42. The law on scanners is some what unclear, if you are found using scanner
  43. with local police frequencies stored in memory, you can bet you'll get a
  44. big fine and your scanner will be confiscated.  So always know where the
  45. memory wipe button is and watch out.

  91. while on my computer.
